Green Bay Packers

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Packers: B.

The Hayden Hatten pick is the one that will follow the Packers into the fall. They took him 55 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

Getting Trotter Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.26 · Pick 26 · Kamari Lassiter · CB · rank 26
In the 26th overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 37
Nothing to complain about; Kamren Kinchens went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Mekhi Wingo · DT · rank 68
They paid a round early for Mekhi Wingo in the 57th pick, more than the board wanted. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 61
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at Round 3, Pick 25 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Blake Fisher · OT · rank 99
They liked Blake Fisher enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 91. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.25 · Pick 125 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 154
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jaylen Wright in pick 125, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Javion Cohen · OG · rank 145
Javion Cohen at No. 135 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Tanor Bortolini · C · rank 206
By-the-book stuff, Tanor Bortolini at pick 203 squarely in line with his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.29 · Pick 204 · Stefon Thompson · OLB-EDGE · rank 229
A wild overpay on Stefon Thompson in slot 204, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 207
Sam Hartman in the Round 6 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Sheridan Jones · CB · rank 212
A tidy little value on Sheridan Jones in pick No. 219, a step better than break-even. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.26 · Pick 246 · Hayden Hatten · WR · rank 301
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Hayden Hatten well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
