The Commanders went off the board in a big way for Payton Wilson, 40 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
However the rest shakes out, Pearsall at that price is a win they earned. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Laiatu Latu went about where he belonged in pick No. 4. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They went early on Patrick Paul in No. 36, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Sedrick Van Pran in slot 68 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Kiran Amegadjie at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Payton Wilson. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Nothing to complain about; Cade Stover went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Circle this one: Zy Alexander at No. 182 is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Somehow Ricky Pearsall was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kaimon Rucker in Round 7, Pick 5 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
