Every other box got a look, but cornerback did not. The Commanders will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
They banked enough surplus on Jackson to cover a lot of smaller sins. They will need Castles to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 9 they get a double-digit-sack hope. A real need, handled.
The board had Taliese Fuaga higher than Round 2, Pick 4, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Jordan Morgan at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good price on Calen Bullock in pick No. 45, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A straight-up fair deal on Adonai Mitchell at pick 71, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Payton Wilson. A minor itch, scratched.
Adisa Isaac in No. 107 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Donovan Jackson at the 144th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
McCallan Castles at Round 6, Pick 10 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They read the board right and Jawhar Jordan was the payoff at the Round 7 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
