The Commanders' one glaring miss is cornerback, a need they left exactly as they found it. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
The Fuaga steal is the beam this whole class leans on. If Edwards pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 7th pick they get a bendy edge with upside. A real need, handled.
They read the board right and Taliese Fuaga was the payoff at the 36th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Patrick Paul in pick No. 39 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Adonai Mitchell in slot 71 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good price on Jackson Powers-Johnson in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Payton Wilson in pick 107 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They paid up for Donovan Edwards at No. 144 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
By-the-book stuff, Brevyn Spann-Ford at Round 6, Pick 10 squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
