For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Packers walked out of the weekend still thin at edge rusher, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
The Fa'amoe pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The Demmings value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
Gennings Dunker at the 52nd pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Daylen Everette. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A big swing on DeMonte Capehart at the 120th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They read the board right and Charles Demmings was the payoff at No. 160. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Cameron Ball at slot 201 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Fa'alili Fa'amoe in pick 236 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board had cheaper options than Jack Kelly at Round 7, Pick 39, and it noticed. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
