Call it larceny. Barrett Carter sat on the board until slot 149, and the Dolphins did not need to be asked twice. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
If Griffith pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Malaki Starks at par in Round 1, Pick 17, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A wild overpay on Donovan Jackson in the 48th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
They barely believed it either: Jalon Walker still on the board at slot 49. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Warren at the 98th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Circle this one: Omarr Norman-Lott at pick No. 99 is a fall that decides a draft. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tai Felton in No. 115 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Barrett Carter at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A running back of that caliber at pick 156 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jared Wilson in the Round 6 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Thor Griffith. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Elijah Arroyo in pick No. 231 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Damien Martinez in pick 251, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
