For all the boxes ticked, the Packers skipped the loudest one: quarterback is exactly as bare as it was. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a building block for the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Chris Braswell at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Javon Bullard at par in pick No. 58, which is nothing to complain about. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Value with a capital V on Max Melton in No. 88, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A straight-up fair deal on MarShawn Lloyd at Round 3, Pick 28, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A slide stopped in pick 126, with Elijah Jones worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
