You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Browns did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
The cost of the Miller reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Love value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
If Jeremiyah Love and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 18th pick they get an every-down engine for the run game at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
In pick 20 they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
In No. 24 they get a building block for the line, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Zachariah Branch at pick No. 74 is the proof. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
