The search is over. The Giants handed the keys to Drake Maye, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Walker. That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Josh Newton in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
Fair-plus on Javon Foster, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tidy bit of business in Round 3, Pick 9, where Ladd McConkey graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Value with a capital V on Tyler Davis in slot 105, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Somehow Troy Fautanu was still sitting there in pick No. 135, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Tahj Brooks in pick 142, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cam Hart in the 183rd pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board fumbled Devontez Walker all the way to the 199th pick, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Taking Brevyn Spann-Ford in the 207th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
They will replay Bru McCoy at pick No. 217 for years; that is how good the value is. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
