They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Giants' quarterback, full stop. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
Getting Legette where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get their quarterback of the future. A clean fit for the roster.
Rome Odunze at pick No. 37 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Taking Xavier Legette in slot 54 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Circle this one: T.J. Tampa at the 69th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
Payton Wilson at the Round 4 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Troy Fautanu at the 142nd overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Tyler Guyton in No. 183 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
