You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Vikings did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.
The whole projection now runs through Jalen Milroe; hit there and everything else looks smarter. They banked enough surplus on Burks to cover a lot of smaller sins.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 5th overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside. Need was not the driver here.
In pick 31 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A wide receiver of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 25 is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
