The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Eagles watched Devin Neal slide 82 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The cost of the Jackson reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a run-stuffing presence up front at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jalon Walker in the 64th pick, plain and simple. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
You do not let a tight end like Harold Fannin Jr. reach Round 3, Pick 32 and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Quinshon Judkins at the Round 4 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The roster fit checks out.
Tyler Cooper at the 162nd overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They will replay Devin Neal at No. 166 for years; that is how good the value is. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jaylen Reed at pick No. 193 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Value said wait; Cam Jackson in slot 199 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
