When a board-topper like Troy Fautanu slides to the Round 2 slot, you do not overthink it, and the Eagles did not. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Trotter Jr. reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a potential shutdown corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
They will replay Troy Fautanu at pick 53 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid a round early for Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the 57th overall pick, more than the board wanted. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A quiet steal in slot 89: Renardo Green for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Circle this one: Javon Baker at pick No. 120 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nice patience on Justin Eboigbe, who had no business lasting to No. 161. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jaheim Bell in Round 5, Pick 35 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A need, and now a little less of one.
Tykee Smith at the 172nd pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
Kendall Milton at pick 210 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
