Harris should have been long gone. The Eagles pounced, and earned a B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Eagles were there to profit. Tre Harris, the No. 167 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 249. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

That safety hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.28 · Pick 28 · Dallas Turner · LB-EDGE · rank 22
In No. 28 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.13 · Pick 45 · Jeremiah Trotter Jr. · LB · rank 46
A straight-up fair deal on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at pick 45, value and slot in agreement. A minor itch, scratched.
R2.28 · Pick 60 · Quinyon Mitchell · CB · rank 53
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Quinyon Mitchell. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Devontez Walker · WR · rank 103
They took Devontez Walker at par in pick No. 97, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.1 · Pick 137 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 128
Khyree Jackson is a better player than Round 5, Pick 1 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R5.20 · Pick 156 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 141
They let Sataoa Laumea come to them and pounced at slot 156. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Braden Fiske · DL · rank 172
No edge and no loss on Braden Fiske in the 172nd pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.3 · Pick 178 · Theo Johnson · TE · rank 181
Theo Johnson in the 178th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.29 · Pick 249 · Tre Harris · WR · rank 167
The board fumbled Tre Harris all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
