The trade table was a mismatch, and the Eagles were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Simpson. The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
The Washington reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.
Pick-by-Pick
Good price on Quinyon Mitchell in the Round 2 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. at the 54th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Roman Wilson in pick No. 90 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Blake Fisher at the 96th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Spencer Rattler at pick 98 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It fills a real need, too.
A wild overpay on Malik Washington in No. 99, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They did well to land DJ James in pick No. 116, just ahead of his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tidy little value on Justin Eboigbe in the Round 4 slot, a step better than break-even. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tommy Eichenberg in Round 5, Pick 1. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
They went early on Frank Gore Jr. in pick 163, and the value did not follow. The roster fit checks out.
LaDarius Henderson slid further than he should have, and the 172nd overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They will replay Jaylin Simpson at the 178th pick for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Julian Pearl at slot 187 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not a spot anyone had flagged, which makes it a head-scratcher.
Javon Baker at No. 197 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Austin Stogner at the 215th overall pick is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reach on Trevor Keegan in No. 225; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Isaiah Neyor at the 227th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They read the board right and Jaden Crumedy was the payoff at slot 243. A pick in search of a role on this roster.
