The Cowboys clearly saw something nobody else did in Chad Lindberg, taking him 39 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get an anchor for the offensive line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
By-the-book stuff, Edgerrin Cooper at the Round 2 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Braden Fiske in the 87th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jarrian Jones in pick No. 124 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Isaiah Davis. The roster fit checks out.
They talked themselves into Chad Lindberg at pick 212, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Value said wait; Jordan Whittington in the 245th pick says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
