Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

The Eagles' one glaring miss is quarterback, a need they left exactly as they found it.

However the rest shakes out, Vaki at that price is a win they earned. The cost of the Jefferson reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.22 · Pick 22 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 26
They took Cooper DeJean at par in slot 22, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.18 · Pick 50 · Xavier Worthy · WR · rank 55
No edge and no loss on Xavier Worthy in the 50th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 57
They paid sticker price for Payton Wilson in pick 53, and that is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R4.20 · Pick 120 · Matt Goncalves · OT · rank 114
Matt Goncalves at the Round 4 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.25 · Pick 161 · Xavier Thomas · DE-EDGE · rank 162
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Thomas at pick No. 161 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.35 · Pick 171 · Jordan Jefferson · DT · rank 183
The board had cheaper options than Jordan Jefferson at Round 5, Pick 35, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Sione Vaki · S · rank 158
Sione Vaki at the 172nd pick is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.35 · Pick 210 · Curtis Jacobs · LB · rank 198
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Curtis Jacobs in No. 210. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
