Green Bay Packers

Nobody dealt better than the Packers this weekend: B.

Future B+

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Packers would have aced it. Andrew Coker at the Round 5 slot is 111 spots clear of where he belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Legette. The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.2 · Pick 34 · Keon Coleman · WR · rank 43
Keon Coleman in slot 34 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R2.15 · Pick 47 · Xavier Legette · WR · rank 38
The board had Xavier Legette higher than pick 47, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 61
No edge and no loss on Kingsley Suamataia in No. 58; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Johnny Wilson · WR · rank 125
They reached a country mile for Johnny Wilson at Round 3, Pick 25, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Matt Goncalves · OT · rank 114
Value said wait; Matt Goncalves in the 91st pick says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Sataoa Laumea · OT · rank 131
No drama and no debate, Sataoa Laumea went about where he belonged in the Round 4 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Andrew Coker · OL · rank 280
Andrew Coker at the Round 5 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Trente Jones · OT · rank 194
Trente Jones at No. 202 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Tayvion Robinson · WR · rank 232
A premium they did not need to pay, Tayvion Robinson a notch or two before his time. It fills a real need, too.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Jordan Whittington · WR · rank 248
They took Jordan Whittington at par in the 245th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · De'Corian Clark · WR · rank 277
A real head-scratcher, De'Corian Clark in pick 255 is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
