You can hear the double-takes from here. The Packers took John Emery Jr. at slot 243, roughly 160 spots before his name belonged. The final tally is a middling C+.

With edge rusher, quarterback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on DT-EDGE is the choice that costs them. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

They gave back a little on the phones for the right to move.

Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
