The Packers clearly saw something nobody else did in Marvin Jones Jr., taking him 101 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.
The Hill Jr. value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
They barely believed it either: Anthony Hill Jr. still on the board at pick No. 62. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Daylen Everette at the 84th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid a round early for J.C. Davis in the Round 4 slot, more than the board wanted. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A conviction pick on Taylen Green at the 170th overall pick that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A straight-up fair deal on Bobby Jamison-Travis at Round 6, Pick 20, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Marvin Jones Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They reached into another round for Adam Randall, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They did well to land De'Zhaun Stribling in slot 255, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
