Call it larceny. Jha'Quan Jackson sat on the board until the Round 6 slot, and the Commanders did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B+.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The cost of the All reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The Commanders indulged a want in Solomon while a need in quarterback, running back and other spots stayed open.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.8 · Pick 8 · Olumuyiwa Fashanu · OT · rank 9
In pick No. 8 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.4 · Pick 36 · Amarius Mims · OT · rank 23
They let Amarius Mims come to them and pounced at Round 2, Pick 4. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 39
By-the-book stuff, Darius Robinson at the 40th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.2 · Pick 66 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 75
A reach on Cooper Beebe in the Round 3 slot; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 60
A reasonable price with a little left over, Javon Bullard in the 67th overall pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R4.1 · Pick 101 · Javon Solomon · OLB-EDGE · rank 113
Of all the spots to shop, they chose OLB-EDGE. Javon Solomon in No. 101 leaves quarterback, running back and other spots for later.
R4.3 · Pick 103 · Cam Hart · CB · rank 91
A tidy bit of business in slot 103, where Cam Hart graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.2 · Pick 138 · Johnny Wilson · WR · rank 127
Johnny Wilson in pick 138 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.6 · Pick 142 · Justin Eboigbe · DL-EDGE · rank 149
Justin Eboigbe at slot 142 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
R6.6 · Pick 181 · Erick All · TE · rank 209
They reached into another round for Erick All, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.45 · Pick 220 · Jha'Quan Jackson · WR · rank 178
Jha'Quan Jackson in No. 220 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
