You build a draft on nights like this. Kalel Mullings had no business being available in Round 5, Pick 30, and the Patriots did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
Aireontae Ersery in No. 58 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
Jack Bech at the 89th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No drama and no debate, Denzel Burke went about where he belonged in the Round 3 slot. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at slot 147 is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Kalel Mullings in pick 169 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
