Call it larceny. Javon Bullard sat on the board until the 127th overall pick, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
If Putnam pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd overall pick they get a home-run threat at receiver at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Quinyon Mitchell in Round 2, Pick 27 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Payton Wilson at the 85th pick is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No edge and no loss on Justin Eboigbe in pick No. 123; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
