It is the swing that defines the weekend: Will Howard in Round 3, Pick 12, a good 50 spots before the room expected him. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jeanty. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a bell-cow for the offense, outstanding value to boot.
They went early on Alfred Collins in pick 44, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
A wild overpay on Will Howard in the Round 3 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
