This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Smael Mondon Jr., the No. 105 name on the board, stolen at pick 148.
The Igbinosun pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Ashton Jeanty slipping to the Round 1 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
Somehow Nick Emmanwori was still sitting there in Round 2, Pick 12, and they pounced on premier safety value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Jayden Higgins at No. 78 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Smael Mondon Jr. in pick 148 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No drama and no debate, Joshua Gray went about where he belonged in the 168th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A wild overpay on Davison Igbinosun in pick No. 170, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Ollie Gordon II in the 171st pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
