The Giants did not so much draft Steele Chambers as overpay for him, 156 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. The Egbuka value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Nice patience on Emeka Egbuka, who had no business lasting to the 37th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kingsley Suamataia in slot 44 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Zak Zinter at pick 54 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kamren Kinchens at pick No. 69 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had cheaper options than Spencer Rattler at the Round 4 slot, and it noticed. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Gabe Hall well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Steele Chambers at slot 154 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A minor itch, scratched.
They reached into another round for Josh Proctor, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
