Somebody took the Giants to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. Put together, it is a D-.
So much rides on Caleb Williams that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Caleb Williams in the 1st overall pick, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Value with a capital V on Xavier Legette in pick 47, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Payton Wilson at Round 3, Pick 6 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
The board had Blake Fisher higher than the 108th pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 140 with a little surplus value in James Williams. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Brevyn Spann-Ford at No. 242 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
