Larceny in the 237th overall pick lands the Packers a B+, Schwesinger and all.

The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Carson Schwesinger fell into the 237th overall pick. More right than wrong, and a B+ to match.

If Smith pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Packers indulged a want in Lawson while a need in edge rusher, cornerback and other spots stayed open.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 16
In No. 25 they get a ballhawk on the back end, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
R2.24 · Pick 56 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 24
Circle this one: Jalon Walker at pick No. 56 is a fall that decides a draft. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.24 · Pick 88 · Jake Majors · C · rank 93
A straight-up fair deal on Jake Majors at slot 88, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Kaleb Johnson · RB · rank 39
Taking Kaleb Johnson in Round 3, Pick 25 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.24 · Pick 125 · Deontae Lawson · LB · rank 81
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went linebacker with Deontae Lawson while clear needs at edge rusher, cornerback and other spots sat open.
R5.22 · Pick 159 · Dont'e Thornton Jr. · WR · rank 174
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at pick 159 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.21 · Pick 237 · Carson Schwesinger · LB · rank 136
The board fumbled Carson Schwesinger all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R7.34 · Pick 250 · Tim Smith · DL · rank 296
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tim Smith. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
