You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Dolphins did exactly that with Keaton Bills in pick 204. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Rome Odunze at the 29th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Worthy at pick 55 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They will replay Chris Braswell at Round 2, Pick 29 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They paid sticker price for Trevor Keegan in the 157th pick, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Jordan Jefferson at No. 183 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A big swing on Tanor Bortolini at pick No. 197, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A real head-scratcher, Keaton Bills in No. 204 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
LaDarius Henderson in slot 241 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
