The war room fell hard for Gracen Halton, and it showed at slot 94: 34 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
On value alone, Golday makes the weekend a net positive. They will answer for taking cornerback early while running back and offensive lineman went begging.
They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th overall pick they get a No. 1 receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In slot 30 they get a home-run threat at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A straight-up fair deal on D'Angelo Ponds at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They bypassed pressing needs at running back and offensive lineman to take Treydan Stukes, a cornerback that was not the priority.
A conviction pick on Bryce Lance at the 87th pick that the board grades a round light. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jake Golday in pick No. 90 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Gracen Halton at the 94th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good price on Jack Endries in slot 130, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Kaleb Elarms-Orr in Round 5, Pick 11 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Zavion Thomas in the Round 7 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Diego Pavia at pick 238 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
