You build a draft on nights like this. Kitan Oladapo had no business being available in slot 204, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
If Sundell pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a lockdown presence outside, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jackson Powers-Johnson at pick 41 is the proof. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No drama and no debate, Max Melton went about where he belonged in pick No. 58. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They went early on Trey Benson in No. 88, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Cedric Gray at the 91st pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A minor itch, scratched.
Johnny Wilson in Round 4, Pick 27 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They paid up for Khristian Boyd at slot 168 when waiting would have done the job. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kitan Oladapo at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A straight-up fair deal on Garret Greenfield at the 216th pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jalen Sundell at the Round 7 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid sticker price for Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick 251, and that is fine. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
