Boards are made to be trusted, and the Commanders shredded theirs for Anim Dankwah. He came off 56 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Whatever Drake Maye becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer.
The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, cornerback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 2 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A real need, handled.
In the 18th pick they get protection for the quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
Troy Franklin in No. 36 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Devontez Walker. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A big swing on Xavier Thomas at slot 139, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value said wait; Erick All in pick 152 says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Anim Dankwah well ahead of where he belonged. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
