Start where it matters. The Patriots took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.
Okie-Anoma has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Jones pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 7 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
In Round 1, Pick 18 they get a go-to option on the outside, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Jordan Morgan in pick No. 34 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Kingsley Suamataia in No. 68 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Brenden Rice in slot 106. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board fumbled Elijah Jones all the way to the 137th overall pick, and they scooped it up. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
No edge and no loss on Ty'Ron Hopper in the Round 6 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They barely believed it either: AJ Barner still on the board at the 193rd pick. The roster fit checks out.
A real head-scratcher, Eyabi Okie-Anoma in the 231st pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
