The Packers went off the board in a big way for Jarrian Jones, 32 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

Spending an early pick on safety with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The Hall steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

Hit on Jackson Powers-Johnson and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Jackson Powers-Johnson · C · rank 51
In slot 25 they get protection for the quarterback, though the board says they badly overpaid.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Kamren Kinchens · S · rank 34
Kamren Kinchens at Round 2, Pick 9 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A minor itch, scratched.
R2.25 · Pick 57 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 57
By-the-book stuff, Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 57 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 107
A want over a need in No. 88: Jaden Hicks adds a safety while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots keeps waiting.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 123
Jarrian Jones in the 91st pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 158
A wild overpay on Jaylen Wright in the Round 4 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.32 · Pick 168 · Isaiah Davis · RB · rank 183
Isaiah Davis at Round 5, Pick 32 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.28 · Pick 203 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 197
Christian Jones in No. 203 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It fills a real need, too.
R6.41 · Pick 216 · Gabe Hall · DL · rank 207
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Gabe Hall at slot 216 is the proof. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.23 · Pick 243 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 240
A clean, defensible pick in the 243rd pick with a little surplus value in Nathaniel Watson. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R7.31 · Pick 251 · Dwight McGlothern · CB · rank 257
They took Dwight McGlothern at par in pick No. 251, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
