The Cowboys torched the value chart for CJ West, taking him 38 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. On value alone, Reed makes the weekend a net positive.
The Darnell Mooney deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. They went 8 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
They read the board right and Ashton Jeanty was the payoff at slot 12. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A straight-up fair deal on Tre Harris at the 44th pick, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Somehow Kyle McCord was still sitting there in pick 150, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jabbar Muhammad at the 170th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had Earnest Greene III higher than pick No. 172, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for CJ West. The roster fit checks out.
Brant Kuithe at slot 190 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A safety of that caliber at the 211th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They talked themselves into Francisco Mauigoa at the Round 7 slot, and the board did not agree. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
