The Garret Greenfield selection is the head-turner. The Vikings reached 33 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it. Getting Davis where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dallas Turner. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They took J.J. McCarthy at par in pick 42, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jalen McMillan at No. 107 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Isaiah Adams in slot 128 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A real head-scratcher, Johnny Dixon in Round 5, Pick 20 is miles ahead of his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Nice patience on Cody Schrader, who had no business lasting to the 166th pick. It fills a real need, too.
They let Isaiah Davis come to them and pounced at slot 176. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
