The Bears treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending pick No. 241 on Dasan McCullough a full 82 spots early. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
Getting Washington Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through linebacker. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 29 they get a two-high chess piece, though they paid up to get him.
A quiet steal in the 40th overall pick: Peter Woods for less than the market said. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
By-the-book stuff, Malachi Lawrence at No. 47 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Mike Washington Jr. at pick No. 89 is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Malik Benson in the 148th pick, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Nice patience on Thaddeus Dixon, who had no business lasting to pick 239. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Dasan McCullough at Round 7, Pick 25 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
