The Tony Grimes selection is the head-turner. The Commanders reached 94 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Boettcher.
Tight end was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 7th overall pick they get an enforcer at safety. More want than need.
Value said wait; Emmett Johnson in Round 3, Pick 7 says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
Pat Coogan in slot 168 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They will replay Bryce Boettcher at No. 187 for years; that is how good the value is. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
