The phones were a trap the Chargers kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. It lands right in the middle: a C, no more, no less.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Randolph Jr. pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
If Brock Bowers and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 5 they get a red-zone target to build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Chop Robinson at pick No. 37 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Caelen Carson at Round 3, Pick 5 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Blake Corum in pick 78 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
Fair-plus on Blake Fisher, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Keith Randolph Jr. in the 142nd overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Michael Barrett in the Round 6 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Isaiah Neyor at the 226th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
