Somebody in Round 7, Pick 25 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Packers sat still while Jordan Magee, the No. 160 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
Nothing gained and nothing lost at the table.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
They let JC Latham come to them and pounced at the 25th pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Payton Wilson in pick No. 41 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T.J. Tampa. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kiran Amegadjie at slot 82 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They read the board right and Javon Baker was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 28. A need, and now a little less of one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Will Shipley at pick 126. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had Isaiah Williams higher than No. 202, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Nathan Thomas was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The roster fit checks out.
They barely believed it either: Myles Harden still on the board at pick 234. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Taking Jordan Magee in slot 245 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
