When a board-topper like Jason Marshall Jr. slides to No. 243, you do not overthink it, and the Texans did not.

The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They will need Zabel to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Grey Zabel · OT · rank 34
In pick 25 they get an anchor for the offensive line, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Omarion Hampton · RB · rank 31
Omarion Hampton in the 58th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.25 · Pick 89 · Dylan Fairchild · OG · rank 92
Dylan Fairchild at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.26 · Pick 127 · Emery Jones Jr. · OT · rank 128
By-the-book stuff, Emery Jones Jr. at No. 127 squarely in line with his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.28 · Pick 167 · Chase Lundt · OT · rank 161
They did well to land Chase Lundt in Round 5, Pick 28, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
R7.25 · Pick 243 · Jason Marshall Jr. · CB · rank 182
They robbed the room for Jason Marshall Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It adds depth where they could use a little.
