They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Jayden Daniels is the Patriots' quarterback, full stop. The bottom line is a respectable B+.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. Tupuola-Fetui has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
McKinstry falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 8 they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
A cornerback of that caliber at Round 2, Pick 11 is the definition of value, full stop. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They talked themselves into Patrick Paul at the Round 2 slot, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Ja'Lynn Polk in No. 53, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kitan Oladapo in the 137th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A slide stopped in the 143rd pick, with Ben Sinnott worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Zion Tupuola-Fetui at slot 180 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Daijun Edwards in pick 193 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They jumped the gun on KT Leveston, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
