Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Andrew Armstrong at the 219th overall pick is 57 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
Kiser at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 4 they get an every-down engine for the run game at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Colston Loveland at No. 38. A need, and now a little less of one.
They went early on Donovan Jackson in the 69th pick, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
A big swing on Dylan Fairchild at slot 77, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jaylin Noel in Round 4, Pick 4 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
KeAndre Lambert-Smith in pick 145 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Andrew Armstrong at slot 219 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 222 is the definition of value, full stop. A minor need, but a need all the same.
