The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Ro Torrence fell into the 219th pick.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 30 they get juice off the edge, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Chris Braswell in slot 41 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kingsley Suamataia at the 58th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Brenden Rice in No. 91 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board fumbled Luke McCaffrey all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tidy bit of business in Round 6, Pick 27, where Johnny Dixon graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
You do not let a cornerback like Ro Torrence reach pick No. 219 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A premium they did not need to pay, Tyrice Knight a notch or two before his time. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A quiet steal in pick 255: Donovan Jennings for less than the market said. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
