You can hear the double-takes from here. The Packers took Jalon Walker at slot 150, roughly 57 spots before his name belonged.
That is a quarterback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 16th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line, though the board says they badly overpaid. A real need, handled.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Earnest Greene III. A need, and now a little less of one.
Colston Loveland slid further than he should have, and No. 78 is lovely value for the tight end. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Maxwell Hairston at Round 4, Pick 13 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
