The trade table was where it all came apart. The Packers shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. However the rest shakes out, Reiman at that price is a win they earned.
The cost of the Rice reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a potential shutdown corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
The board had Graham Barton higher than pick No. 41, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It fills a real need, too.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 26 with a little surplus value in Junior Colson. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board had cheaper options than Brenden Rice at pick 88, and it noticed. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, Caelen Carson at No. 91 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Steal is underselling it; Renardo Green at the 97th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor itch, scratched.
They paid sticker price for Christian Jones in pick No. 126, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They let Brennan Jackson come to them and pounced at Round 5, Pick 33. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board fumbled Cody Schrader all the way to slot 202, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Tip Reiman in the 219th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jordan Magee at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Josh Proctor slid further than he should have, and No. 255 is lovely value for the safety. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
