You could see the war room lean forward. Keionte Scott at pick No. 92 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.
They are betting Gusta proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 12 they get a lead back with juice, and a steal at that.
In No. 20 they get a green-dot type in the middle at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
You do not let a cornerback like Keionte Scott reach the 92nd pick and blink. They did not. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board had Bud Clark higher than Round 4, Pick 12, and the safety fell to them anyway. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Isaiah World at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
David Gusta at pick 177 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It fills a real need, too.
They took Kaleb Elarms-Orr at par in the 180th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They jumped the gun on Aiden Fisher, taking him earlier than his grade liked. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
