Nobody had Antwaun Powell-Ryland this high, and it is not close. The Texans reached 42 spots to get him at slot 108.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
The Campbell pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get an anchor for the offensive line. A real need, handled.
In No. 30 they get a mismatch in the passing game, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Emeka Egbuka in the 33rd overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jihaad Campbell in pick No. 58 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
The board had Tate Ratledge higher than slot 79, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They jumped the gun on Kevin Winston Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Antwaun Powell-Ryland in pick 108, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Darius Alexander in slot 127 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A reasonable price with a little left over, RJ Harvey in No. 167. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Clay Webb in pick No. 243 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
