The rest of the league will want that one back. Tylan Grable tumbling to the Chiefs in the Round 7 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Reaching for Hopper left real value on the table behind him. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Quantity was the play, for better or worse.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Brian Thomas Jr. in the 32nd pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Ja'Lynn Polk for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good price on Dominick Puni in pick 91, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Khyree Jackson went about where he belonged in the 95th overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Beau Brade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They did well to land Isaiah Davis in Round 5, Pick 23, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
By-the-book stuff, Javion Cohen at slot 169 squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They liked Ty'Ron Hopper enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 173. The roster fit checks out.
They paid sticker price for Trey Knox in the 219th overall pick, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Tylan Grable in the 252nd pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
