The Chiefs bet big and early on Jack Nelson, 51 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Smith falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kenneth Grant at the Round 2 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Harold Fannin Jr. at pick No. 41 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Value said wait; Jack Nelson in No. 64 says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They robbed the room for Matthew Golden here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Steal is underselling it; Andrew Mukuba at pick 96 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Brashard Smith in the 132nd pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
